Education Committee Strategic Plan

The Education Committee’s overarching strategy is to marshal the tremendous, individual expertise and resources of our members and apply them within the framework of an integrative, three-fold strategy for advancing all forms of education on the geography of life.

Our initial strategic plan includes the following three general initiatives.

As this appears to be the first, holistic approach to a discipline-wide, global-scale plan for biogeography education and outreach, the first step must be to collect information on current and previous initiatives on biogeography education.

Our second initiative will be to make this information available in a variety of resources, informational packages, and other educational resources made available to all those interested in the geography of life.

Through a series of workshops, distinguished lecture series, online exchange fora, IMAX presentations and other means of active dissemination and outreach, IBS will directly engage the scientific community, government agencies and NGOs, and the lay public on the distinguished history, compelling patterns, and ongoing discoveries in the field of biogeography.
