Announcing the winning logo design for IBS Vancouver 2021, designed by Ferran Sayol.

Ferran Sayol is a biologist with a wide interest in macroevolutionary patterns driving current diversity, mainly using birds as a study model. Currently, he is a post-doc at the Antonelli Lab (University of Gothenburg, Sweden) where he is developing a project on global patterns of bird extinctions, aiming to understand how extinctions might change the macro-scale patterns we observe. Among other questions, he investigates how current trait diversity might be biased by non-random extinctions and whether some macroecological patterns are better explained by the past rather than current species distributions.

We had a number of fantastic logos sent in by biogeographers, which made it a really difficult choice – thanks so much to all who submitted designs!
