4-5 pm UTC

Join us on Wednesday, February 28, at 4 pm UTC for the Funk Lecture given by Erin Saupe.

Talk Title: “The emergence of latitudinal diversity gradients”

This seminar will focus on quantifying the emergence of latitudinal diversity gradients in the marine realm, from benthic invertebrates to planktonic foraminifera. Erin will delve into the potential driving mechanisms responsible for the higher diversity seen at low latitudes today, and why we may not see the same pattern in deeper time.

Erin E Saupe is a Professor of Palaeobiology in the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Oxford. Work in her lab integrates biological data with information from the fossil record to elucidate the controls on community and species’ responses to environmental change across various spatial and temporal scales.
