Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Biogeography (Ref.: 201800289) in the Department of Geography, to commence on July 1, 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.

Department of Geography

The Department of Geography, established in 1954, is the first university-level geography department in Hong Kong.  The QS World University Ranking rated the Department in 2017 the 18th among the world’s top 200 universities in the subject of geography and area studies. The Department offers comprehensive undergraduate, taught-masters, M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes in human and physical geography with an interdisciplinary orientation.  Its team of 18 full-time teaching staff, 1 post-doctoral fellow and about 30 research students are actively engaged in cutting-edge research. A globally competitive remuneration package commensurate with the appointee’s qualifications and experience will be offered.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointments will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary, as well as leave, and medical benefits.  Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
